Nintendo reveals classic SNES console

The device will come with 21 games built in - plus two controllers

Super Mario World, Starfox and Yoshi's Island are set to be re-released later this year as part of a new classic SNES console.

The original Super Nintendo Entertainment System, launched in 1990, sold 50 million units worldwide.

The SNES Classic follows the NES Classic, which went on sale late last year but abruptly discontinued in April - much to the frustration of fans.

5M free copies of ‘Payday 2’ available on Steam

Looks like Christmas came early this year for PC gamers of the hit “Payday” video game.

The developer of the cooperative first-person shooter (FPS) heist franchise, Overkill Software, has made 5 million copies of “Payday 2” available on Steam completely free of charge.

The studio’s generous offer is a way for gamers to be enticed to avail themselves of the game’s upcoming major DLC (downloadable content) called the “Ultimate Edition” package. The update will feature an all-in version of all previous DLCs and other new features which will go for $45 (P2,225), PC Gamer reports.

Currently, all existing DLCs have been removed in preparation for the massive update, which will roll out soon.

Fallout 4 is free this weekend on Steam for the first time ever

Fallout 4 is pretty fantastic, but it's also been out for well over a year and so there must be a reason if you haven't played it by now, right? If that reason happens to be price (which is still hanging in at the $60 mark), then get ready to rub your face in the post-nuclear future, because beginning tomorrow and until May 28, Bethesda is making the game free to play on Steam

The free weekend will kick off at 7 am ET/10 am PT on May 25, and run until 10 am ET/1 pm PT on May 28. During that time, players will have full access to all Fallout 4 base content and mods. And if, when it's all over (or anytime during the freebie), you find yourself hooked, you'll be able to pick up the game and the season pass on sale for up to 67 percent off. Sale pricing will be in place until 7 am ET/10 am PT on May 29.

Speaking of mods, here's one that vastly improves settlements, here's one that turns your shotgun into a landscaping tool, and here's one that lets you take people hostage and rob them. Hey, the apocalypse is a rough neighborhood.

The Call of Duty and Wolfenstein series are going cheap this weekend

A blast of Steam savings.

The weekend is almost here and while Devolver Digital's typically indie ensemble is on sale via Steam this weekend, so too are both the Call of Duty and Wolfenstein series—new games and old alike.

On the COD front, Infinite Warfare, Black Ops 3, and Advanced Warfare are all going for £19.99/$29.99 at 50 percent off, while 2008's World at War comes in at £9.99/$9.99.  The COD Black Ops Bundle is probably where you'll make your biggest savings—down from £59.99/$79.99 to £29.99/$39.99—however it's cool to see the game that started it all in 2006 on the list for £7.49/$9.99 too.

Wolfenstein-wise, it's a similar gig. 2014's The New Order is subject to a 70 percent sale, now selling for £4.49/$5.99, as it its 2015 prequel The Old Blood. If you fancy taking on some '90s-inspired Nazis, the 15-year old series original is on there too—going for £0.89/$1.49, which I reckon is worth it for nostalgia's sake alone.

Speaking to The New Order, Chris said this in his 2014 review

"[Wolfenstein: The New Order's] writing, music and environmental art all achieve far more than you might expect from the game about a preternaturally durable testicle with a revenge fetish and a gun in each hand. In a genre that is often overtaken by derivative or exploitative games, it's a pleasant surprise—a reminder of a time when a shooter's singleplayer campaign was the main event. A time when these games were made with attention to detail, care, and a bit of love."

Head in this direction for the Call of Duty Franchise Steam sale, and this-a-way for the platform's Wolfenstein Franchise sale. Both are running now through Monday 6pm BST/10am PST.
